Position Summary:

The mission of the Center of Occupational and Environmental Health and the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health (DEOH) in the Program in Public Health (PPH) is to conduct interdisciplinary research and teaching across the fields of exposure science, toxicology, risk assessment, epidemiology, urban health, climate change, natural disasters, environmental health disparity, and related disciplines, to elucidate how environmental exposures in home, community, and occupational settings influence human health and the development and progression of human disease, with the aim of preventing human illness and disability and promoting well-being. In pursuit of this mission, the DEOH will focus on integrative and transdisciplinary health research using the three pillars of science: basic, clinical, and population science. Research with emphases on assessing exposures to and health risks from environmental and occupational factors include, but are not limited to contaminants in ambient air, water, food, and soil; green space and the built environment; radiation; noise; temperature; work organization; and community and workplace stressors. Under the supervision of the administrator or clinic supervisor, the Ambulatory Care Administrative Coordinator 3 will perform a variety of tasks for the UCI Center for Occupational Health Clinic. Excellent communication skills and customer service skills are essential. Primary duties include clinic patient coordination for all clinic activities including Preparing and reviewing Superbills for submission to billing staff for invoicing contractor, private, insurance, legal cases consulting and other patients. Preparing clinic reports; review and maintaining clinic equipment and supplies. Attending regular clinic leadership meetings to represent clinic service patient coordination. This position also involves provide coverage for the front office/reception which can vary based on clinic needs. Duties include registering clinic patients, maintaining patient records, preparing reports, updating patient files and assisting with patient flow during clinic hours. Will also provide back office support and perform testing elements for exam components. Teamwork is valued in this office.

Applies broad knowledge of ambulatory care clinics clinical, regulatory, and operational practices to implement and monitor the business operations of a clinic in the medical center including verifying billing, documentation, financial reporting, IT systems, facilities and procedures are compliant and meet clinic standards.

$66,700.00 – $92,600.00 (Annual Salary) Expected Pay Range within the Full Salary Range $66,690.72 – $118,494.00 (Annual Salary)

Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Medical Assistant Certifications Back and Front Office Active BLS certificate required

Thorough knowledge of the clinical and operational implications of medical billing practices including coding, billing systems and documentation requirements. Knowledge of ambulatory care clinic practice management including patient care workflows and processes. Thorough understanding of medical terminology and specialized clinical knowledge of clinic practice area. Proven ability to apply knowledge of medical center policies and procedures and related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments to assess and monitor clinic operations. Excellent communication skills, including active listening and critical thinking. Demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely communicate clinic content, rules and regulations. Strong interpersonal skills. Actively cooperates and supports the work of others. Ability to work productively with anyone regardless of background. Empathetic and aware of impact on others. Productive in work volume, speed, quality and consistency. Ability to see projects through to completion on deadline. Excellent interpersonal judgment and discretion. Ability to work well as part of an administrative team with a customer service orientation towards co-workers, faculty and researchers. Ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in the Microsoft Suite. Skills in data management. Effectively uses relevant healthcare and clinic operations information technology, including billing systems and medical record documentation. Thorough knowledge of data management and documentation methods used in ambulatory care clinics. Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Assistant duties Knowledge of insurances Must comply with JCAHO requirements regarding TB/ABP varies screenings Ability to obtain patient vital signs. Ability to take spirometry readings. Vision testing experience Ability to prepare patients for resting and treadmill EKGs Active BLS certificate required
