Clinical Fellow / Professor in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging

Clinical Fellow / Professor in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging
Grade 10: Starting Salary £65,578 (depending on experience)
Full time – Indefinite

The Opportunity

This post represents a unique opportunity for you to design a holistic programme of learning and teaching in the area of Diagnostic Imaging, which is inclusive, integrated and informed by the latest research and industry developments.  Set within a framework of competency-based education, you will champion a student-centric, outcomes-focused, developmental approach to veterinary clinical teaching.

The School is developing a novel ‘hybrid’ model of clinical education through clinical and industry partnerships. A core element of this model is the highly innovative primary care veterinary teaching hospital, Garden Vets at Keele. You will spend a proportion of your time providing clinical leadership in your specialism to inform the development of high-quality clinical practice within the hospital. You will also work closely with other partners to develop and inform clinical teaching across all species, and embrace interprofessional education through these networks.

The clinical facilities at the School are enhanced through the development of the E3 lab integrated with the hospital, where experiential education and innovation using advanced modelling and simulation and extensive digital infrastructure will augment teaching and research, and afford a rich environment for scholarship.

This senior academic position will proactively foster the development of our early career academics and provide pastoral support to students, upholding the School’s ethos of maximising personal performance through optimal wellbeing and self-regulation. Management responsibilities will be available and encouraged.

The Benefits

The School recognises that its success depends upon the contribution and dedication of its talented staff. In return, we have a competitive benefits package available, including:

  • Competitive rate of pay with annual increments within the grade (Keele Spine)
  • Generous annual leave entitlement with opportunities to purchase additional leave
  • Excellent staff pension scheme
  • Access to continued personal, professional and career development
  • On site ‘outstanding’ nursery (Keele site)
  • Discounted health & fitness facilities on site (Keele site)
  • Cycle to work scheme (subject to eligibility)

The Harper & Keele Vet School values diversity, and is committed to ensuring equality of opportunity, and to proper and fair representation across its senior decision making groups. In support of these commitments, the University particularly welcomes applications from individuals of Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds for all roles.

Flexible Working

The University is committed to operating flexible working practices wherever possible.

The School

A unique joint venture between two outstanding universities, the Harper and Keele Veterinary School brings together two distinctive institutions with a track record of excellence in teaching and student experience to provide an exciting new opportunity for veterinary students to train within rural Staffordshire and Shropshire. Staff and students are able to make use of resources at each campus and at partner sites including a network of veterinary practices and farms.

Together Keele University and Harper Adams University have 186 years of heritage in the animal and human health areas. Both institutions are recognised for their strengths in employability, student satisfaction and first class teaching and have a shared commitment to research in food security and sustainability. The joint veterinary school provided students with the opportunity to take advantage of both institutions with a common commitment to excellence and complementary skills.
