Job Summary:

 

Under general supervision, responsible for providing clinical nutrition care & services to patients/clients in response to research protocol and physicians orders to include the following: assessment of Patient’s nutritional risks/status, development of care plans to meet nutritional needs of patients, counseling of patients & family members, and education of patients.

Job Duties:

 

  • Implements and provides appropriate nutritional care and education within the framework of a comprehensive health program.
  • Collaborates with medical staff and a healthcare team in assessing the nutritional needs of the patient population and develops dietary interventions to support patients through treatment and beyond.
  • Provides education to patients, caregivers, staff and the community concerning nutritional approaches to disease prevention and survivorship issues.
  • Provides advice and consultation regarding the implementation of therapeutic diets prescribed by physicians for individual patients.
  • Manages nutrition supplement program, provides input into grant funding applications, reports, participant identification, screening and distribution of products.
  • Promotes and develops food demonstrations and nutritional teaching for various age groups and /or chronically ill patients.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food and/or Nutritional Science is required.

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of relevant experience is required.

Additional Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certification by the ADA as a Registered Dietician is required.
