The College of Nursing is searching for a faculty member for a clinical track position to begin in Fall 2025. Experience in medical-surgical adult health and working with second-degree students is preferred.
Basic Functions:
The College of Nursing (CON) is committed to excellence in teaching, scientific inquiry, and knowledge development. We are seeking a faculty member who will embrace our new college tagline, “Nurse leaders transforming well-being and the environment,” and who has a strong record of clinical expertise that supports our mission. Our mission is to prepare nurses to excel as outstanding and compassionate clinicians, scholars, and leaders who will enhance the health and healthcare of individuals, families, communities, and populations both locally and globally. The successful candidate will have an appointment with the College of Nursing with primary responsibilities in clinical teaching, with possible classroom teaching, at the undergraduate and graduate levels as appropriate. The candidate will be expected to oversee clinical placement and faculty/preceptors associated with specialty course work, participate in student advising and service to the college, and contribute to scholarly activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Contribute to the University’s undergraduate and graduate teaching missions by teaching courses and mentoring students for the college.
Contribute to scholarship.
Service as an advisor, mentor, and professional role model to students.
Service to the college, university, and professional organizations.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform other duties as assigned.
Environmental Conditions:
The incumbent is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
Qualifications
Required:
1. Ph.D. or DNP degree at the time of appointment.
2. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
3. Demonstrated excellence in oral communication skills.
4. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
5. Clinical expertise in nursing.
6. Eligible for RN and/or NP licensure in Rhode Island.
7. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
Preferred:
1. Clinical expertise in the area of medical-surgical adult health- acute or chronic.
2. Experience with 2nd-degree student education.
3. Demonstrated leadership and experience in clinical and classroom teaching.
4. Evidence and potential for clinical scholarship.
