Job Summary:

Clinical faculty hired under this PVL will have a C basis (9-month) appointment and be primarily responsible for teaching in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)-Acute Care program. Teaching and evaluation of student learning may occur in classrooms, simulated care environments, skills labs, and acute care clinical settings during the academic year. Clinical faculty hired under this PVL will also have responsibilities in the acute care DNP program including recruiting preceptors and identifying clinical placements for acute care DNP students, coordinating and overseeing specialty practice curriculum, and supporting new acute care DNP program faculty. Clinical faculty collaborate with colleagues in course and curriculum development, improvement, and evaluation; engage in service activities aimed at accomplishing the mission and strategic vision of the School of Nursing including committees and task groups; pursue scholarly activities individually or in scholarship teams to advance nursing science, education, or practice; and contribute to School of Nursing and University of Wisconsin-Madison goals for diversity and inclusive excellence.

Responsibilities:

* Teach and assess learning for students enrolled in the DNP program, primarily with the Acute Care DNP students.
* Serve as acute care population lead which includes assisting with recruiting preceptors, identifying clinical placements, coordinating and overseeing acute care advanced practice curriculum, and supporting new acute care DNP program faculty.
* May be assigned to teach in the baccalaureate (accelerated, traditional, and AD to BSN completion) program as appropriate to expertise and program need.
* Teach using strategies to include active learning, simulated experiential learning, online learning, and clinical experiential learning in hospital or other healthcare settings as required by course assignments.
* Collaborate with other faculty on curriculum and course planning at the graduate and undergraduate levels, using concept and competency-based teaching strategies.
* Contribute to the School of Nursing mission through service activities (e.g. governance committees, outreach activities, or project task groups).
* Pursue areas of scholarly interest (e.g. evaluation studies to improve teaching and learning).
* Collaborate with colleagues in practice settings through academic-practice partnerships to contribute to student learning, practice improvement, or community outreach.
* Work to support and enhance the diversity, climate, and inclusive excellence of the School of Nursing.
* Engage in other activities appropriate to a member of the School of Nursing academic community, such as attending All School and Faculty Department meetings, participating in faculty development activities, and contributing to meeting the mission and vision of the School.

Qualifications:

Required Experience:
* One or more years of experience in teaching or precepting students at undergraduate or graduate level in nursing, or in professional staff development in acute care settings; and
* Three or more years of professional experience in an acute care setting as a registered nurse (RN), advanced practice registered nurse (APRN), or Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS); and
* One or more years of professional experience and certification as a DNP-Acute Care Advanced Practice Nurse and licensure in Wisconsin (or eligibility) as an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber.
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong interest in and commitment to the teaching mission of the School. Experience with DNP clinical instruction, active learning, teaching in simulated environments, concept-based teaching, competency-based assessment, and inter-professional education is highly desirable.
Appointments for candidates with 5 or fewer years of teaching experience will typically be at the Clinical Assistant Professor rank; appointments at the Clinical Associate Professor rank require six or more years of teaching experience.

The expected salary for this position starts at a rate of $80,600 on an academic year basis. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications.
