Climate Adaptation Specialist

● Coordinate and manage a work across a multi-state region that provides technical assistance, training, and outreach on climate change vulnerability and climate-informed natural resources management adaptation options to diverse partners, including land management and conservation professionals, in an all-lands approach that includes federal, tribal, state, county, municipal, academic, and private partners.
● Collaborate effectively with scientists and natural resource managers to synthesize research information, assess climate-related risks, and translate results into non-technical language and products for a variety of audiences across the Midwest US.
● Create and adopt new and innovative ways to reach various audiences. Organize and facilitate NIACS trainings on the topic of climate change vulnerability, climate change adaptation and mitigation practices.
● Organize workshops, seminars, trainings, and scientific meetings for a variety of audiences. Develop and implement interactive activities to facilitate thinking in presentations, workshops, and within breakout groups.
● Design, write, and produce a wide range of materials, including presentations, briefings, brochures, fact sheets, web-based media, case study narratives, and interactive activities. Develops communication plans, press releases, coordinated material to spread awareness of new products, tools, resources, or opportunities.
● Maintain liaison with others such as scientists or educators who are experts in related fields to maintain awareness of the latest trends and innovations, best practices developing in the field related to natural resources, management, climate change vulnerability, and adaptation.
● Help to support the development of adaptation demonstration projects.
● Integrate diversity & inclusion training and activities into work
● Commits to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.
● Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.
