Clerk PL3 (Digital Print & Bindery/Finishing Operator)

The University of New Brunswick, Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Clerk PL3 (Digital Print & Bindery/Finishing Operator) with Print Services – Information Technology Services. This is a continuing, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with the SALAC employee group. The position is funded by the University Budget with a salary range of $18.59 – $22.02 per hour.

Print Services operates and advances professional printing for UNB (enterprise) by providing in-house professional printing, exam/test scanning, brand consistency reviews, and print consultations while also working with approved vendors for additional print needs not completed in-house.

This position is responsible for effectively receiving, preparing, printing and finishing specified print material and other request types for various customers, maintaining printing equipment, keeping inventory readily stocked, sending finished work to customers, providing excellent customer service, and actively contributing to personal and team success within a positive work environment.

Position summary:

  • Deliver high quality digital printing using a variety of printing equipment.
  • Deliver high quality bindery/finishing services with devices such as the velo, continuous and cerlox coil binding machines, cutting, scoring, folding, laminating, saddle stitching, hole punching, padding, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and perform routine equipment maintenance and year-end inventory count.
  • Provide high quality customer service by helping, taking and fulfilling customer requests.
  • Efficiently and effectively prioritize work based on deadlines, overall office workload, and machine capability. Use our internal request tracking software and work with external printing partners when applicable.
  • When necessary, restock and replace ink, paper, staples, toner, labels, and additional printing materials.
  • Participate in project teams as an effective team member, complete individual projects and other duties as assigned successfully and on time.

Requirements/Skills:

  • College certificate in a related field or a combination of high school diploma with prior work experience in a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years operating high-speed digital equipment.
  • Minimum 2 years operating bindery and finishing equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of Print industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat DC.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools and Adobe Illustrator an asset.
