The UWE Careers and Enterprise: External Relations team has an exciting opportunity for a Civic and Community Engagement Team Leader. This post leads the Civic and Community Engagement Team in the delivery of services that generate experiential learning opportunities for students with regional and community partner organisations including volunteering, work experience and civic and community projects.
The Careers and Enterprise Service works across the university and with external partners to deliver the aims and objectives of the UWE Employability and Enterprise Plan. As part of this, the Civic and Community Engagement Team Leader develops employability enhancing opportunities for students and works with senior staff across the service to ensure that activity is strategically focused using GOS data and Labour Market Information.
Developing and delivering complex administrative support services related to volunteering, work experience and civic and community projects, the Civic and Community Engagement Team Leader uses specialist knowledge to identify, assess and recommend appropriate solutions to issues and challenges.
This role works in partnership with colleagues across UWE Bristol and within our wider service Library, Careers, and Inclusivity. This service is made up of the following teams: the Careers & Enterprise Team, the Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity Team and the Library Service. We work in collaboration with the University’s faculties and other professional services departments to provide a comprehensive range of employability support to our students.
About you:
You are experienced in line management of teams or supporting others with recruitment, training or development and have a track record of building and maintaining excellent working relationships with organisations across the third sector, public sector, and private sector.
Creative and innovative you will be able to demonstrate experience of developing ideas for volunteering or community-based projects with a commitment to continuous improvement of services. You will possess the skills to influence internal and external partners to engage positively with ideas and civic and community projects. You have excellent communication and influencing skills and establish credibility with the people that you work with.
This is a rewarding role, where you will see the outcome of your work through students gaining valuable knowledge, confidence and experience through volunteering and the ongoing development of strong ties, civic engagement and commitment within the wider community.

This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give both our staff and students access to everything they need to succeed – £300m has been invested recently on new state-of-the-art learning spaces and accommodation while we continue to develop incredible new facilities to enhance our offer even further.
