Choral Assistant
California State University, Fullerton
-
CSUF Choral Programs are considered some of the largest, most comprehensive, and most acclaimed in the United States. The choirs perform on-campus and throughout southern California, the US, and abroad. To successfully manage the program, each chorus is assigned its own student assistant. Choral assistants manage the hundreds of participants for our many concerts and events on- and off-campus each semester. The chorus assistants manage our off-campus travel and requisite paperwork, distribute and collect hundreds of pieces of sheet music, arrange for individual performing attire (fittings, ordering, alteration), secure on- and off-campus rehearsal and performance venues, arrange for guest instrumentalists, keep track of attendance records, manage voice placement, manage personnel issues, and prepare all scores to serve as the musical assistant to the conductor. Each position requires a person with very specialized skill and in-depth knowledge of choral music.
CSUF opens our campus and Meng Concert Hall to thousands of local high school and community college singers annually through our popular, highly regarded choral festival programs. The festival manager coordinates these important community events down to the smallest detail. Because CSUF now requires formal documentation and official release of liability for each campus visitor, this job now includes significant liaison with Risk Management staff. - Essential Duties
