Child and Youth Care Worker in Barrie, Ontario

We are seeking child and youth care workers to work in a foster home setting. We are seeking educated and experienced individuals that are motivated and enthusiastic about a career helping others.

Areas of responsibility will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide supervision and ensure the safety of children and youth at all times

  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment to learn and grow

  • Assist with homework help and academic support

  • Encourage social and emotional development through positive interactions and role modeling

  • Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive program

  • Participate in training and orientation

  • Developing, monitoring, and updating detailed care plans, as assigned.

  • All other duties, as assigned

Key qualifications for this position will include, but are not limited to:

  • Must have a College Diploma or University Degree as a CYW (Child and Youth Worker) or SSW (Social Service Worker)

  • 2+ years of CYW/SSW experience in a foster home or group home setting

  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification is required**

  • Valid CPR certification, preferable within 1 year

  • Completion of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check within the last 6 months

  • Current member of OACYC (Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care) is preferred*

  • All staff are required to have a drivers license, car insurance, and access to a vehicle
