This position is open to current permanent faculty at UF.  The chair of the FIRE Department provides leadership and oversight of all aspects of departmental functions, including research, academic programs, finances, human resources, and governance structures.  She/he is responsible for implementation of curriculum in departmental courses, faculty assignments, and managing resources of the department.  The chair works with the dean and the faculty to assure an infrastructure and culture that promote academic career development and facilitate appropriate tenure and promotion of faculty members.  The chair also participates with other chairs in the leadership and policy infrastructures of the college. 

The Department Chair facilitates a positive climate to support the work of the faculty and the learning experiences of students. 

The Department Chair works with the Dean and search committee to identify needed faculty positions and appropriate candidates for faculty positions. 

The Department Chair is a member of the College leadership team and is directly responsible to the Dean.

Current salary with administrative supplement while serving as chair.

This position is open to current tenured faculty at UF.

Only current permanent faculty at UF can apply (OPS, Post-Docs, Adjuncts, Interim, Courtesy or Visiting faculty are NOT eligible to apply.) 

Tenured UF faculty member of the FIRE Department.

Final candidate will be required to provide official transcript to the hiring department upon hire.  A transcript will not be considered “official” if a designation of “Issued to Student” is visible.  Degrees earned from an education institution outside of the United States are required to be evaluated by a professional credentialing service provider approved by National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), which can be found at http://www.naces.org/ .
