Certified Medical Assistant, Student Health

Location:  New Orleans, LA
Summary
This position provides support for the provision of comprehensive medical care for a population of 13,000 students. The candidate must have a strong customer service orientation and a background in laboratory or medical office assisting. The Medical Assistant is responsible to obtain and blood specimens, perform laboratory tests for which training has been received, perform quality assurance checks on these tests, and prepares specimens for processing. 
This is a full-time, 12 month position with some weekend and evening hours required. This position also may require participation in off campus programs.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to perform phlebotomy.
• Skills in providing exemplary patient care and customer service including maintaining confidentiality, respect and being reliably available to patients when they seek care or advice.
• Knowledge using electronic health records and computerized medical programs. 
• Knowledge in maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records.
• Ability to provide exemplary patient care and customer service including maintaining confidentiality and being reliably available to patients when they seek care or advice.
Required Education and/or Experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• One year experience in a medical setting.
• Certified as a Registered Medical Assistant by the AMT or Certified Medical Assistant by the AAMA, AAH
Preferred Qualifications
• Three years’ experience in a medical setting.
• Experience with college aged-adults.
• Experience with third party billing and insurance.
• Experience in performing CLIE-waived testing.
Compensation Information
