| Scope of Job | Scope of Job To assist the Program Coordinator in the operation of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion & DREAM Resource Center Description of Duties • Assists with the management of daily operations, services, and activities. • Assists with programs and other initiatives that cultivate an inclusive, diverse, respectful, and affirming campus community. • Assists with the development and execution of training and educational opportunities (such as LEAP, Ally Safe Zone, Dream Zone, Healing Circles, People Series, Community Connections) • Research and learn updates on social justice, anti-discrimination, inclusive practices, immigration, allyship to different communities, and other relevant topics. • Assists with assessing and tracking the center’s programs, services, and activities (surveys, focus groups, etc.). • Assists in presentational speaking engagements and group discussion facilitation that include classroom, organizations, offices, departments, etc. • Represents the center in official functions; participates in meetings; attends and co-facilitates trainings, and/or seminars/institutes related to the program’s mission and goals. • Provides assistance to students who are undocumented or are from mixed citizenship status families, affinity-based groups, and underrepresented students. • Provides support and mentoring to students, making connection to various campus and community resources to enhance personal and academic success. • Knowledgeable about institutional and external policies • Develops, cultivates, and maintains working relationships with campus partners, external departments/agencies, and professional organizations. • Performs other duties as assigned. Working Conditions Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Normal office or classroom or outside environment. Some travel and weekend work is required. Must be able to adjust working from the office or working from home, if needed. Must be able to bend, stoop, reach and lift for retrieving/maintaining files and for setting up equipment or supplies. Must be able to move between buildings, offices and classrooms. Potential Work Hours: Monday-Saturday 8am-9PM Other Ability to interact in a professional manner with faculty, staff, students and the public. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Office Location: Brownsville Student Union Rm 1.20, Edinburg University Center Rm 306A Terms of Employment An average of 15-19 hours/week. Student assistant will be assigned to a home campus (Edinburg or Brownsville). |
| Discipline Specific Required Qualifications | 1. Must be admitted to a graduate degree program. 2. Must be in good academic standing 3. Be registered full-time for the respective semester – nine (9) semester credit hours during the fall semester, nine (9) semester credit hours during the spring semester, or three (3) semester credit hours during the summer session or be registered in the required number of semester credit hours to fulfill the only remaining requirements of the degree plan. |
