Applicants should note that this is a pooled position. A pool establishes a group of job applicants from which candidates may be selected when a temporary staffing need occurs.

Job Summary: The Capstone Center for Student Success is seeking knowledgeable and energetic undergraduate students for Spring 2023 to tutor CH 105. Peer Tutors are not hired as experts, but to help students better understand academic concepts while benefiting in the following areas.

  • Flexible work schedule with a pay rate of $10 an hour
  • Comprehensive training program with prep time for subject areas

  • Opportunity to establish stronger relationships with faculty and departments

Required Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have a minimum 3.33 GPA.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have earned a grade of A or A+ at The University of Alabama in the courses they will tutor (an exception being MATH if an applicants placed out due to MATH placement).

Skills and Knowledge: Applicants must have strong knowledge of subject area tutored, and must be able to explain fundamental concepts of relevant course(s) to students. Applicants must be comfortable using Zoom, have strong written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Applicants should note that this listing is a pool position. Applications will remain on file for the duration of the semester and qualified applicants will be contacted for interviews when positions become available. Applicants with strong knowledge of the following subject areas/courses are encouraged to apply: CH 105.

Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
