Normal Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm, limited nights and weekends
Job Summary: The Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) will work closely with all healthcare staff to ensure the overall well-being of patients.
Additional Department Summary: The ACNO will identify and implement new nursing practices based on evidenced based medicine, will hire and onboard both advanced practice and nursing staff, and will complete collaborative performance evaluations of advanced practice and nursing staff.
In concert with collaborating MDs, the ACNO will supervise nursing staff in outlying clinics to ensure high quality care is provided and patient safety is always maintained. The ACNO will provide leadership, advocacy, mentorship and program development to enhance professional development and quality patient care.
In collaboration with the CNO, the ACNO will develop budgets, manage administrative issues, and maintain compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Nursing with a minimum of 5 years of general nursing experience to include at least two years of management experience in a nursing role. Current RN licensure in Alabama. Must be knowledgeable of the State of Alabama Board of Nursing guidelines/standards.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver’s license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Skills and Knowledge: Successful candidates will display a collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit, a desire to work in multidisciplinary and inter-professional teams and have excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English. Essential skills include professionalism, organization, and the ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, communicate effectively with patients, students, faculty and other health care professionals.
