The School of Humanities seeks Expressions of Interest for casual academic opportunities in 2023 in Historical and Classical Studies; European Languages, and Linguistics; Philosophy; Media; English and Creative Writing, and Film. 

Casual academics may be required throughout the year to teach in undergraduate and postgraduate coursework courses. Duties may include delivering tutorials and seminars, and undertaking marking, lecture delivery, and supervision of student projects. Teaching may be either face-to-face or online or both. These casual opportunities are not open to remote working arrangements.

To be considered, you will need to provide the following information and documents 

  • Attach a CV and include a brief statement indicating the discipline/s or specialisation/s in which you are seeking casual employment – this may be more than one discipline (e.g. History and English). 
  • For undergraduate courses, you will need at least a Bachelor Honours Degree in a relevant field, or a current enrolment in a higher degree course (e.g. MPhil, PhD)
  • For undergraduate Languages courses (French, German, Spanish), you will need a Bachelor Honours Degree and/or native or near-native fluency in the chosen language.
  • For postgraduate coursework courses, you will need at least a coursework Masters Degree and must be able to demonstrate sufficient teaching experience/supervision/professional experience, in a relevant field.
