The Learner and Academic Services (LAS) department’s role in student success is to create a culture and environment that unleashes the full potential of all the students at SAIT. The Opportunity
We are currently hiring instructors to teach Philosophy courses (Critical Thinking, Introduction to Philosophy, Ethics, or Ethics and Technology) in Winter 2023. Reporting to the Academic Chair, Communication and Liberal Arts Studies, you have a passion for teaching diverse students, thrive in sharing knowledge and enjoy coaching students to succeed and think critically. You will be responsible for teaching philosophical concepts using experiential (task-based) learning methodologies.
The Role
- Instruct Philosophy courses to undergraduate students
- Prepare in-class and study materials for learners
- Evaluate student progress and achievement providing timely, formative feedback
- Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
- Stay abreast of emerging pedagogical issues and educational technologies
- Attend department meetings and SAIT’s instructor training program
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Philosophy
- Minimum of 3 years’ post-secondary teaching experience in a relevant discipline
- Graduate education and/or work experience in adult education would be an asset
- Good computer skills and experience teaching technology-enhanced courses are required
