Casual Human Research Ethics Administrator, Research Integrity

Salary Rate: Casual HEW 5 (48.51 per hour +10.5%superannuation)

Location: Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus or Melbourne Burwood Campus

The Role:

This successful candidate will provide casual administrative support to the Human Research Ethics and Integrity team, including accurate data entry and attention to detail to ensure the processing of applications is prioritised effectively. This role requires advanced written communication skills to compose appropriate responses to researchers’ correspondence and secretarial support for ethics committee meetings, computer literacy and confidence utilising Zoom, Outlook, Excel and Sharepoint, organization skills and ability to work within timelines.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Experience in administration and related activities in a large organisation with complex administrative structures, policies, and procedures.
  • • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • • Experience in operating in a high-pressure diverse environment, involving face to face, phone, and written communication
  • • An understanding of human research ethics issues and regulations and of University administrative structures and processes.
  • • Demonstrated ability to use and maintain databases.

 Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Provide high level administrative and secretarial support to DUHREC, including arranging and supporting meetings of DUHREC by preparing agendas, minutes and correspondence as required
  • Build productive relationships with a diverse range of existing stakeholders and actively seek to maintain positive relationships
  • Clarify expectations and respond promptly to client requests, queries, or complaints to ensure client needs are met to agreed standards and timelines
  • Understand local processes, prepare standard documents, manage records, regularly track progress of work tasks related to Human Research Ethics
  • Deliver effective and efficient outcomes and outputs against team and operational work plans • Provide advice to DUHREC and staff and students on the use of human participants in research in accordance with legislative requirements and University policy
  • Present information in a clear, structured, concise and tailored way by focusing on key messages and check that messages are understood and meet audience needs
  • Take personal responsibility and show initiative to meeting goals and objectives contributing to an inclusive team environment
  • Recognise the importance of teamwork and of effective communication amongst team members and build rapport within immediate team in ways that are respectful and inclusive of others
