Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities – Student Care Services
The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (OSRR) promotes a campus climate of integrity, civility, accountability, and student well-being by providing a wide array of resources, education, and support services for the university community. OSRR also includes Student Conduct and Academic Integrity & Student Care Services. OSRR oversees the Golden Rule Student Handbook, The UCF Creed, the Admission Clearance process, Dean’s Certifications, and Remedial Measures for students involved in Title IX-related incidents.
The Opportunity
Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (OSRR) case management specialist 20-30 hours per week. The OPS OSRR Case management specialist position is responsible for reviewing admission and re-admission applications sent to the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities from Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate Studies, or the Registrar’s Office for applicants who self-disclose on their application previous criminal charges or educational policy violations. This position also assists the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities Student Care Services unit with the front desk operations. This position/classification may be moved at management’s discretion within the SDES division to a commensurate level position as determined by the Vice President of Student Development and Enrollment Services or his/her designee.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with acting as a liaison for the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the Office of Graduate Admissions, and the Registrar’s Office regarding applications that are deferred for the admissions clearance process.
- Assists with the processing of applications through the admissions clearance process each academic year.
- Communicates electronically and via phone with all applicants who have applied to the University and have disclosed previous disciplinary action for misconduct at any educational institution or have been the subject of any criminal proceeding other than a minor traffic violation.
- Effectively tracks all admissions clearance files and ensures all the required documentation has been submitted and scanned through the database system.
- Schedules interviews for admission clearance applicants to meet with OSRR staff members as determined via the Interim Dean of Students Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities.
- Reviews documents received by each applicant with the Interim Dean of Students, Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities.
- Assists with notifying applicants, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the College of Graduate Admissions, and the Registrar’s Office of final recommendations made by the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities.
- Assist with Student Care Services, front desk coverage, and main phone line coverage.
- Provide referrals to support services within the university as well as community agencies.
- Assist with daily correspondence and communication with students and Student of Concern reporters.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related social/behavioral science field and one to three years working in a higher education setting.
