Job description

The University of Central Lancashire is seeking to appoint an experienced Careers and Graduate Employability Adviser within our established Careers Team. We are looking for an individual who can provide excellent careers and graduate employability guidance and support to our students and alumni.

 

The successful applicant will be educated to degree level and hold a recognised Careers Guidance qualification.

 

The role holder will operate as part of our friendly team, working across the full spectrum of careers guidance and employability support, with lead responsibility of supporting students from both the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Science and the School of Engineering. Responsibilities include delivering high-quality, up-to-date and appropriate guidance and advice through one to one and group work sessions, supporting our students and graduates to achieve satisfying and successful careers.

 

Applicants will need significant experience of delivering engaging careers and employability workshops, as well as experience of working with employers to understand the graduate recruitment process.

 

Our team requires excellent communicators who are willing to work flexibly and responsively, with the ability to plan ahead to ensure objectives are met.  Applicants will need a good understanding of the graduate labour market and diversity and inclusion in relation to opportunity and career choice.

 

We pride ourselves on the quality of the services we provide to students, alumni, staff and employers so candidates must have the ability to pay close attention to detail, working accurately and exercising a meticulous approach to planning, delivery and review.

 

Excellent communication, motivational and engagement skills are required to work effectively with students on an individual and group basis. The ability to network, build relationships and promote the benefits of careers support is essential and the successful applicant will need a clear understanding of the issues relating to employability in Higher Education.

 

Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. This position is based in Preston with occasional delivery at our Burnley campus.
