About This Opportunity

As the Career Services Advisor, you will manage and deliver a portfolio of career services and co-curricular employability activities for students in the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law (BEL).

Your focus will be on engaging first-year BEL students as they commence their UQ journey and explore career pathways. You will be working with the Faculty’s First Year Experience Coordinator to increase student belonging and retention, and collaborate with the central Employability team to provide targeted advice and experiences.

You will work within a small team of Career Services Advisors and share responsibility for planning and delivering high-quality career development learning activities such as workshops, consultations, events and special projects. You will contribute to the development of physical and online career resources and utilise UQ’s systems for data collection, evaluation and reporting.

You will stay up to date on student employability markets and assist in the development of promotional content for print, online and social media platforms, and develop and maintain connections with students, academic and professional staff and external stakeholders, including industry.

BEL Career Services Advisors work in partnership with other Faculty professional functions such as BEL International and Advancement, as well as UQ’s Student Enrichment and Employability Development team (SEED).

The ability to work autonomously and flexibly within a team environment is essential. You will have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, coordinate structured projects and activities, plan and deliver events, and develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including industry. An ability to establish effective workflows and contribute to ongoing service improvements, while meeting team and individual goals will be highly regarded.
