Who are we looking for?

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Career Connect Officer
to join Learning and Teaching Unit, Education Portfolio, Academic Division.

The Career Connect Officer is responsible for providing operational and business support for career connect services, career mentoring and industry connect services managed by the central Career Connect team in the SSG Career Development and Employability portfolio.

About the Academic Division

The Academic Division is responsible for supporting and delivering learning, teaching, research and research services to students and staff. This is realised via the Education and Research portfolios and through the work of our Faculties.

The Head of the Academic Division is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic), Professor Robina Xavier. Professor Xavier provides strategic oversight and financial management of the Division and provides leadership to the Education portfolio.

The Division’s Research portfolio and academic faculties, are led by the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Research), Professor Christopher Barner-Kowollik.

About the Learning and Teaching Unit

The Learning and Teaching Unit (LTU) is committed to a culture of collaboration, working in partnership with students, industry representatives, and staff across QUT to meet the evolving needs of our learners.

Guided by our Real World Learning Vision, LTU leads and coordinates learning and teaching across QUT, leveraging existing initiatives and enabling new ways of thinking and working that are learner-centric and future-focused.

The Student Success Group (SSG) works in partnership with Faculties, HiQ, Equity and Student Counselling, and other learning and personal support providers across the University (International Student Services, Student Engagement, Widening Participation, Student Business Services). The SSG aims to provide access to the highest quality of support for learning and careers and engagement services and strategies to empower students with the tools, connections, and mindsets to achieve their full academic potential and to design their real world futures.

You will demonstrate:

Selection Criteria

  • Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion of a degree.
  • Demonstrated experience in helping to organise and facilitate events and presentations, including use of on-line systems to manage and promote events.
  • Demonstrated digital literacy including the ability to use standard office software (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, email), internet tools and large-scale databases, and experience in managing system requirements.
  • Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues and team members, internal and external clients, and other staff and students within the University.
  • Demonstrated time management skills and attention to detail including the ability to prioritise tasks, work under pressure to meet deadlines, and provide a professional service within a busy customer focussed environment.

    Remuneration: $83,609 to $94,271 pa (HEW5) (inclusive of $70,650 to $79,660 pa, 17% superannuation, and leave loading)
