CBC ABILICREW PLACEMENTS FOR EXCELLENCE PROGRAM

This role is a hybrid work arrangement. Work schedule to be discussed with the hiring Manager according to the guidelines defined by the department.

This role described below is part of CBC’s CAPE program which is specifically for people with disabilities*. CAPE is a six-month paid placement program that aims to kick-start the careers of people with disabilities, eliminate barriers to employment, showcase individual talents and generate more discussion, learning and content related to disability, accessibility and inclusion.

The program will run from Monday, January 13 to Friday, June 27, 2025.

What do you need to be eligible?

  • You must self-identify as a person with a disability*.

  • You must have no prior long-term work experience with the CBC.

  • You must be able to work legally in Canada.

  • You must be available for the assigned workweek during the program, to be discussed during the interview process ( up to 38.75 hours-some roles have more flexibility).

Part of the CAPE program includes attending weekly online group meetings with other CAPE participants. These meetings will be scheduled with your manager’s approval.

Your role and how you will make an impact:

  • As an Associate Producer for Kids Content, you will be a key player in shaping impactful media for young audiences. You are a children’s digital content expert, driven to create media that kids love. You keep a pulse on the latest trends in content types, platforms, games, shows, influencers, and pop culture, specifically through the lens of what young audiences are consuming. Your insights into what captivates kids today fuel your creative vision for tomorrow.

  • In this role, you’ll have the amazing opportunity to work with the senior producer, and producers to develop video games for a school-age audience. CBC Kids custom games are fun, engaging and stand apart in that they promote diversity, representation and inclusivity, ensuring that all children see themselves reflected in the stories we tell. By collaborating with internal and external talented teams, you will make a meaningful impact on the kids media landscape, fostering a sense of belonging and connection among young audiences by creating fun, inclusive content that resonates with kids and inspires their imagination!

  • We are seeking an enthusiastic Associate Producer who is passionate about creating engaging kids content and has a strong interest in video games.   • Under the guidance of the Sr. Producer and working closely with the wider CBC Kids digital and broadcast teams, you must balance daily production and administrative tasks with overall platform and departmental strategies and objectives. There is a continuous requirement to focus on fine details of our kids digital content to ensure the highest quality.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with the CBC Kids digital content team, product team and external producers/vendors to research, develop and implement innovative and engaging content formats for kids including games, interactive formats, quizzes, video, stories and other features that kids find exciting, engaging and sticky for cbckids.ca and associated platforms.

  • Assist in creating digital content on the kids digital team which primarily includes: packaging digital content across a variety of digital content formats across multiple platforms including cbckids.ca , YouTube, Roblox and social media channels.

  • Administrative tasks: utilize Google Workspace tools such as Google Sheets,Google Docs, and Google Forms, plus project management software such as Monday.com to manage and organize data, create reports, and maintain documentation. This includes developing and updating spreadsheets for tracking project progress to ensure efficient communication within the team.

  • Ideation for and participation in creative meetings, pitch sessions, outreach events, focus testing and other CBC Kids-wide initiatives is a must.

  • Stay on top of audience-specific trends and new developments in digital programming and content production for kids and families; share and evaluate opportunities where appropriate.

  • Experience with various content management systems and Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. Photoshop & Illustrator) will be a strong asset.

  • Experience consuming, producing and publishing short form video content to social platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Instagram will be a strong assets.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • Demonstrated and genuine interest in popular culture, video games, children’s media as well as an understanding of the impacts and effects of the media industry on kids

  • Knowledge of the gaming industry, tools and best practices for producing games and/or interactive content. Proficiency in game development is a valuable asset

  • Knowledge and experience of best practices, tools and processes for publishing original online video and repurposing television video

  • Understanding of digital publishing, packaging and distribution across a variety of platforms

  • We value creativity and collaboration and look for team members who are able to provide imaginative and effective suggestions for engaging with an elusive audience with a genuine passion for the challenge

  • You are naturally curious and possess the ability to listen, and to be alert and responsive to our unique audiences (kids and caregivers)
