Essential Job Functions
- Conducts the conversion of recipes into functional data, which can be used to formulate nutritional analysis for food served at the various university locations
- Maintains the accuracy of the electronic food purchasing system and verifies the units are the best ingredients at the best price in accordance with university standards of quality
- Manages the department inventory control including working with vendors to purchase items to meet our menu specifications and verifies the items purchased
- Advises management of price fluctuations and recommends menu adjustments
- Researches new ingredients for updating current and new menu items considering seasonal price fluctuations of produce and other menu items
- Works with management to evaluate menu specifications and new ingredients considering cost and quality to maintain university standards of quality
- Collaborates with department and storeroom staff to coordinate menu specifications and to gather and distribute items
- Manages the department point of sale (POS) systems data entry, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting or internal inquiries about the system
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of an associate’s degree or a combination of education/certification(s) and/or experience suitable for the position
- Experience working in culinary nutrition or in other related work
- Obtain and maintain food safety managers certifications approved by conference for food protection
