Your opportunity:

Under the general direction of the Associate Director, Systems & Reporting, the Business Systems Analyst & Coordinator is responsible for consulting, analyzing and documenting business processes to support the development and enhancement of information systems within the School of Graduate Studies for the purpose of optimizing the student and administrative experience. In particular, the position will provide subject matter expertise for the implementation and continuous adoption of GradApp (Slate) in support of all applicant conversion activities of SGS.

The Incumbent will work in collaboration with the SGS Systems & Reporting team to analyze current systems in support of the full student lifecycle. They will collaborate with graduate unit representatives to understand business processes and requirements, to make recommendations for enhancement and streamlining, to develop unit and user acceptance testing processes, to develop and maintain training programs and associated documentation.

The Incumbent will collaboratively with University Registrar’s Office colleagues, IT staff and subject matter experts from across the University to ensure high-quality consultation, analysis, development, and execution of enhanced business processes and appropriate IT solutions. The incumbent will conduct research and analysis, synthesize findings to support improvements, prepare documentation, and provide recommendations and advice.

The position effectively uses and builds expertise in the University’s student information systems (ROSI) and complementary technologies such as GradApp (Technolutions Slate), Microsoft Office Suite, to accomplish tasks.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzing and documenting business requirements. 
  • Assessing needs and contributing to the development of business systems. 
  • Writing complex specifications based on system requirements. 
  • Developing and implementing application and/or system testing plans and scenarios. 
  • Testing business applications to ensure reliability. 
  • Liaising with stakeholders to support initiatives. 
  • Analyzing administrative processes and procedures and recommending changes for improvement.
  • Consulting with clients regarding the development of project scope and resources. 
  • Training end-users on procedures and the use of supported IT systems. 
  • Collaborating on cost estimates. 
  • Scheduling and assigning work to a small group in a limited area. 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in Graduate Studies, Information Technology and Project Management in Higher Education or related experience.
  • Expert knowledge of Technolutions SLATE platform or related platform.
  • Experience with business process analysis, writing technical specifications and use cases, optimizing and implementing new systems
  • Proven record of successfully managing projects, working independently, analyzing data and meeting deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of the policies and procedures of the University of Toronto.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to conduct clear presentations
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of academic and administrative staff and applicants/students
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, multi-tasking skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well as a team member in a fast-paced, professional environment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to act on one’s own initiative
  • Ability to deal with a high volume of client and vendor demands
  • Ability and inclination to keep technical skills up-to-date and relevant
  • Ability to learn quickly from reference manuals and on-line help facilities

USW Pay Band 14 — $88,290 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $112,911. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
