The Opportunity:

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a Business Intelligence Systems Analyst to join the Information Technology department in a teleworking arrangement. The Business Intelligence Systems Analyst is responsible for the design, development, and programing of systems to consolidate and analyze data from multiple internal and external sources, producing robust dashboards and reports. Much of this work will be using the Oracle Business Intelligence platform.

Reporting to the Director of Business Intelligence, the Business Intelligence Systems Analyst focuses on interfacing with key business stakeholders to deliver on the overall business intelligence strategy and identify requirements in relation to data integration, validation, and reconciliation considerations. This role involves developing robust reporting solutions to help stakeholders fully understand their data, derive valuable insights and drive business change. This position requires strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams, departments, and the university community. A strong team-player attitude and willingness to serve both as an individual contributor and leader on various projects.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide support for Oracle Business Intelligence and other business intelligence technologies supporting the University’s administrative and academic communities.  Work closely with a wide network of customers and vendors to provide superior customer service.  Collaborate with business users to understand requirements for data, reports, analyses, metadata, training, service levels, data quality, and performance.  Translate these requirements into actionable data models and presentations using the appropriate technologies.
  • Perform troubleshooting to assist customers with any application systems problem solving activities. Implement processes for maintaining a stable environment. Analyze and identify software support solutions addressing service requests.
  • Communicate issues, critical problems and situations to appropriate managers, both customer and IT. Identify and resolve data, reporting and other application systems problems. Communicate solutions to customers in an effective and efficient manner. Ensure effective inter and intra team communications.
  • Participate and influence short/long term technology plans. Keep abreast of technology trends, especially those trends relating to the educational environment.  Manage projects as necessary to keep applications up to date for the business users.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 2-5 years of experience developing reports or BI applications, preferably Oracle Business Intelligence Systems (OBIEE) is required
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (OBIEE, Oracle Data Visualizer, OAC, OAS)
  • Familiarity with data warehouse design, dimensional modeling and implementation
  • Familiarity with concepts like star schema, fact, dimension
  • Proficiency with reports, dashboards and other analytical tool design/creation/maintenance
  • Experience with ETL design, development and processing
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with SQL,PL/SQL
  • Debugging and trouble-shooting expertise
  • Good time management abilities
  • Experience designing conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
