Lydig’s Business Development Team is seeking to add an experienced team member (ranging from Business Development Engineer to Director depending on experience) who has a proven history of effectively cultivating business growth and can contribute to a dynamic Business Development and Marketing Team. This person who will play a pivotal role in driving our company’s growth and expanding our presence within the Seattle market. We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and resourceful professional with the capability in overseeing multiple projects and deadlines. Your primary responsibility will be to identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities across our target market sectors. Additionally, you’re engaging and organized personality traits will allow you to foster strong relationships with staff, leading them to success. Your work will be guided by our company’s mission of delivering premier construction services while upholding our core values of fairness, honesty, and quality.


  • Business Development Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to drive growth within the regional market, specifically focusing on the K-12 education, higher education, hospitals, civic buildings, and hospitality sectors.

  • Market Research: Conduct thorough research in the markets we operate or new target markets to identify potential clients, competitors, industry trends, and upcoming construction projects.

  • Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, architects, engineers, and other industry professionals. Doing so while demonstrating fairness, honesty, and a commitment to delivering quality results.

  • Proposal Development: Lead the development of compelling proposals, presentations, and other business development materials that showcase our company values effectively communicating our capabilities, experience, and value proposition to clients.

  • Networking and Industry Engagement: Actively participate in industry events, trade shows, conferences, and professional organizations, embodying our values and culture while expanding our network and staying abreast of market developments.

  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the executive team, project managers, and other key stakeholders, fostering a culture of fairness, honesty, and quality throughout the business development process.

  • Leadership Development & Mentorship: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the business development team and operations staff, fostering their growth in business development.

  • Sales Forecasting and Reporting: Track and analyze business development activities, prepare regular sales forecasts, and provide insightful reports to the executive team, ensuring transparency and accountability.

  • Staff Engagement: Engage with staff across various departments, inspiring and motivating them to embrace our values, work collaboratively, and consistently deliver exceptional results, while also establishing strategic connections with managers and staff members to differentiate Lydig Construction within the market.

  • Reports weekly to Business Development Team, bi weekly with Regional President.

  • Creates and assists with content and proposal creation from project and pursuit teams.

  • Consistently maintains professional and personable communication with clients and prospective clients, employing both verbal and written interactions.


  • Bachelors Degree is preferred. Emphasis in Marketing or Business Development or similar field. Experience may substitute for education

  • A minimum of 3 to 10 years of progressive experience in business development or sales roles within the construction industry, preferably with a focus on commercial building projects.

  • Having in-depth market knowledge; understanding of the regional construction market in the Seattle area, specifically within the K-12 education, higher education, hospitals, civic buildings, and hospitality sectors.

  • Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver compelling presentations and proposals.

  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while maintaining our commitment to delivering premier construction services based on fairness, honesty, and quality.

  • Relevant and healthy relationships with potential clients in our market region will be viewed as a positive.


  • Occasional overnight travel of several days’ duration is required.

Other Requirements

  • Must have a current driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as defined by Lydig’s insurance company and vehicle policy, if applicable for auto allowance

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment checks including: Drug Screen, Criminal Background and Credit check.

  • Employment eligibility is the sole responsibility of the applicant.

The salary range for this position is between $85,000 and $140,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.
