Nature of Work

The purpose of this job is to assist, guide and direct SBEs, including MBEs, WBEs, VOSBs and Micro-LBEs; manage and develop supplier diversity program; assist Administrative Services Officer II with developing, implementing and monitoring diversity programs and training with the City organization and interaction with the community (citizens, businesses and organizations).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides leadership to Office of Supplier Diversity promoting strong relationships between City, small businesses and community organization
Plans, develops and implements policies and programs designed to maximize opportunities to achieve supplier diversity. Develops, implements and monitors internal operating policies and procedures to ensure consistent application of supplier diversity policies
Acts as liaison with small, minority, veteran and women-owned businesses, organization and community groups
Attends trade shows and meetings of associations representing MWBE and SBE interests and seek out potential MWBE suppliers.  Manages City’s certification program
Attends and small business and minority chambers activities
Monitors City contracting and bid awards to ensure participation of area small businesses
Monitors compliance with acquisition policies and procedures
Recruits, directs and assists new and evolving small businesses and Micro-LBEs, including but not limited to MBEs, WBEs, and VOSBs
Prepares annual EBO report for City Commission and special reports as well as correspondence and reports related to the work
Assists Diversity and Inclusion Manager with diversity initiatives and acts as secondary trainer on activities
Assists with special projects
Maintains records and statistics
Manages Monday support group
Performs related work as required

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Urban Planning or a related field
–AND–
At least three (3) years of related work experience involving economic program development 
–OR–
Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
