We are seeking a Business Analyst who is motivated by variety, is seeking a challenging environment for professional growth, and is interested in supporting large information technology projects for one of our clients, who is located in Seattle.
The role will support the business analysis work for a project with the goal to achieve grid flexibility and resilience by implementing an integrated suite of technologies anchored around a Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Interconnection Tool, Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) and an Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS).
The Business Analyst will be responsible for elicitation, analysis, documentation, business process and workflow mapping, preparing a fully defined Request for Proposal for the program of technologies and eventually documenting the functional specifications for each. If the position continues to implementation, assistance with coordinating business readiness with UAT, procedure development, and training.
Location: Remote with some travel required.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for identifying opportunities to improve operational problems and developing future project definitions through analysis of current state business processes.
Develop and present consultation findings to contribute to client’s decision path.
Engage and work closely with business customers at all levels from front-line to Executive leadership.
Ensure business goals and strategies are reflected in the recommended solution.
Identify, recommend, and document specific business and technology requirements and use cases.
Develop preliminary and detailed business requirements, use cases/user stories, software requirements, and process/workflow diagrams.
Gather and evaluate information from multiple sources for project planning, requirements gathering, including interpreting high-level information; abstracting from low-level information to a general understanding; and evaluating user requests to perceive the underlying needs of the business.
Develop RFP based on the scope defined for the technology solution and system integrator.
Communicate requirements and opportunities to all levels of the organization and to audiences of varying degrees of technical knowledge.
Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the business processes and the associated IT systems as informed by business staff.
Business analysis, including completion of deliverables following the BABOK standards.
Develop all deliverables according to the standards and practices – business process documentation with BPM within Visio, RFP template, requirements gathering to include traceability, etc.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst
Align with teams for end-user communications plan with implementation timeline.
Working knowledge of PMO processes/portfolio management processes
Ability to explain technical solutions, practices, and procedures to technical resources, project managers, and customers at various levels through excellent written and oral communication skills
Recommend and assess impacts of changes that enable the project to achieve its goals; captures, analyzes, and document requirements; and support the communication and delivery of those requirements to the stakeholders.
Self-driven and have demonstrated the ability to work independently with minimum guidance
Demonstrated multitasking ability, problem solving skills and a consistent record of on time delivery and customer service
Excellent organizational skills
Fluent in use of Microsoft Office Suite
Visio experience a plus
