Detailed Job Description:

Responsible for zone maintenance activities scheduled or arising in all assigned buildings.  Focuses on response to facility problems that arise and preventative maintenance in buildings. Reports to Zone/Shift Leader but may receive direction from district, zone, and central operations leadership as well.  Responsible for customer service and other facilities management support functions.  Ensures environmental sustainability initiatives are integrated into all facilities operations.  Provides estimates for billable work performed by zone maintenance staff.  Serves as the direct supervisor of maintenance staff performing facilities-related work; provides staff training, develops daily work schedules and forecasts maintenance needs; conducts performance reviews, corrective action and absentee coordination.  Coordinates and directs contractors and university personnel in coordination with other zone and district leadership.  May provide coverage for zone/district leadership when short-term staffing needs dictate.  Adheres to all safety practices and procedures; maintains work areas and equipment; attends meetings; assures properly completed documentation; provides a high level of customer service; communicates to customers, coworkers and supervision via written, electronic and verbal methods and devices; performs other duties as assigned.  Is subject to changes in shift, hours, days, and/or location as operations dictate; may require on-call holiday rotation; subject to 24 hour emergency call.    In accordance with the Disaster Preparedness and University State of Emergency Policy 6.17, this position has been designated as essential short-term status and alternate long-term status.  Will require the successful completion of a criminal background check.

Experience:

REQUIRED: Ability to read and write common sentences and to calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages; 9 months experience or 900 hours training in more than one skilled trades (i.e., electrical, plumbing, masonry, carpentry, locksmithing, painting/decorating, welding, landscaping, refuse management, HVAC, construction equipment operation) and related safety practices (3 months in specific trade may be required); 1 month experience or 1 course in budgeting; 3 months experience or 3 courses in management/supervision; may require valid Ohio license and evidence of satisfactory driving record.

STRONGLY DESIRED: Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization; strong problem-solving and decision-making skills; high level of technical competence related to facilities maintenance & building systems; history of safe operation of equipment and vehicles; high standards of honesty, integrity, trust, openness and respect for individuals.  Flexibility, good interpersonal skills, and self-direction.  Proven ability to build a strong team.  Ability to manage conflict effectively.  Strong customer service skills.  Three years of supervisory experience over facilities maintenance activities in an institutional or hospital setting. Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate. Working proficiency with basic Microsoft office software and other computer software. Comfortable with I-Pad use and CMMS and Kronos work management software. Ability to climb ladders and lift up to 50 pounds.

Additional Information:

The targeted salary range for this position is $30.14 to $40.19 per hour.
