Building and Facilities Officer

We are seeking to appoint a Building and Facilities Officer to join the Facilities Team at the Pandemic Sciences Institute. The Facilities team are responsible for running the building to ensure that first class research environments, including Containment Level 2 and 3 laboratories, clinical areas, cold storage facilities and office environments are impeccably maintained and supported at all times.
Under the leadership of the Building and Facilities Manager you will work alongside scientists ensuring that the building, laboratories and clinical areas are well stocked, maintained and operating according to requirements. You will be responsible for undertaking and organising agreed maintenance activities or repairs and you will ensure that standard building and laboratory contracts are in place and that work is completed with minimal disruption to daily activities. You will be the first point of contact for all building and facilities related queries, ensuring that faults are quickly rectified and a safe productive work environment is provided. You will be required to regularly check and monitor for unsafe situations or equipment failures, taking appropriate remedial action and have the knowledge and experience to address issues independently or to escalate to others.
It is essential that you hold a three A-Levels (Grade A-C) or equivalent including one science, and have good knowledge of Health and Safety in a scientific environment. You will demonstrate a conscientious, diligent, flexible, proactive and willing attitude to work with a high attention to detail. An ability to clearly and accurately communicate processes and procedures verbally and in writing is essential, and you will demonstrate a good interpersonal skill, professionalism and able to deal effectively, efficiently and calmly with a wide range of visitors and staff at all levels.
