| Position Description | The position is for two to four students to staff the BSU Maker space. Students will learn how to use and operate Maker Space technologies, including 3D printers, micro-controllers, robots, small electronics, and prototyping machines. After completing an intensive learning period, duties will include: mentoring and tutoring other students, staffing and organizing a Maker Space site, co-leading workshops and tutorials, and constructing demonstrations. The position will start immediately upon hire and last throughout the 2021-2022 academic year. |
| Preferred Qualifications | Required: – Applicants must be current BSU undergraduate students who will be enrolled during the 2021-2022 academic year, and can commit to working in the Maker space for at least 10 hours a week during the next academic year. -Applicant should have a passion for problem solving and working with people Preferred: – Personable, friendly, able to work with and tutor others – Passion for tinkering and building things – Able to work and learn independently – Experience using CNCs, Milling Machines, Lathes, 3d printers, Laser cutters – Familiarity with CAD, CAM, or 3d printing software – Familiarity with computer programming – Knowledge of Makerspace technology is not required, but a definite plus |
| Physical Demands | Able to occasionally move equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. |
