Job Description:

MRI experiments- A major portion of duties and responsibilities involve the acquisition of magnetic resonance imaging data on an 11.1 tesla MRI scanner in the AMRIS. The MRI studies are conducted for projects in research areas of aging, Alzheimer’s disease, and traumatic brain injury in mouse or rat models. This position should know beforehand how to setup animals, troubleshoot MRI and radiofrequency coil devices and run software to collect data on a Bruker Paravision 6 console. This position will also carry out steps in MRI data analysis.

Non-MRI experiments – This position is also expected to conduct behavioral experiments related to sucrose preference testing, fear conditioning, social interaction tests, open field behaviors in rats and mice. At the end of studies, harvesting of brain and other body tissues is carried as part of the research. This position will also carry out steps in data analysis.

Training new personnel- This position will train new personnel on methods and approaches in MRI data acquisition in small rodents.

Protocol development – Writing new experimental protocols and drafting protocols for updated or new MRI methods.

Lab Maintenance – Conducting routine laboratory maintenance in relation to MRI and behavioral studies is expected. This includes keeping procedures aligned with existing animal care and use policies and environmental health and safety policies.

Expected Salary:

$54,400 – $64,000

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor degree in biology or a closely related field and seven years of relevant experience; or a Master degree in biology or a closely related field and five years of relevant experience; Doctoral degree in biology or a closely related field and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Doctoral degree in biology or a closely related field and two years of relevant experience.
