We are seeking a Bioinformatician/Computational Bioscientist to join an established multi-disciplinary team as part of Modernising Medical Microbiology (MMM) consortium.

You will join a diverse team that includes microbiologists, geneticists, molecular biologists, epidemiologists, bioinformaticians, software engineers, clinicians, nurses and infection control professionals.

You will work on bioinformatics tools, supporting activities on the Scalable Pathogen Pipeline Platform project (SP3, https://grantnav.threesixtygiving.org/grant/360G-Wellcome-215800_Z_19_Z), and its associated translational project, the Global Pathogen Analysis Service (GPAS / www.gpas.global).

You will hold a PhD or equivalent in Computational Genomics or Microbiology, including experience of analysing next-generation whole-genome sequence data in a high-throughput manner to uncover genetic variation associated with antimicrobial resistance.  You will also have experience programming in a high-level computing language (preferably Python) and demonstrated ability to use software engineering methods such as version control, docstrings, unit tests etc.

The post will be primarily based at the John Radcliffe Hospital, although flexible working may be considered.

The post is full time and fixed-term for 24 months in the first instance.
