ATP CROSS FUNCTIONAL SYSTEMS SOLUTIONS STRATEGY LEAD

The University of Wisconsin System is transforming the administrative infrastructure within the University system. The overall transformation is a people, process, policy, and technology initiative which will include business process standardization, optimization, and redesign in the areas of finance, human resources, and research administration, and will include implementation of Workday to support the changes. The overall objective of the Administrative Transformation Program (ATP) is to right-size the administrative complexity to advance the missions of education, research, and outreach.
The Cross Functional Systems Solutions Strategy Lead will report to the Program Director and be accountable for the relevant program cross functional solutions, system functions that support all of the business areas, preparations and strategies for the implementation of Workday and related software. The successful candidate will be part of the ATP leadership team and will lead the Cross Functional Systems Solutions area and work across functional business areas within ATP (HR, finance, research administration) and technology team (Integrations, Conversions and Data and Reporting) to ensure achievement of program goals and objectives.
The Cross Functional Systems Solutions Strategy Lead will lead a team to develop and implement cross functional system solutions to successfully implement Workday and prepare for post-implementation support. These areas include cross-functional system solution design and configuration, testing, deployment, system access architecture and management, system administration and configuration, and release readiness.
To be successful in a distributed decision-making environment, the Cross Functional Solutions Strategy Lead will partner closely with ATP leads and governance groups to proactively collaborate across UW System with business leaders, service providers, technologists, and other individual stakeholders, stakeholder groups, and interested parties to advance ATP objectives.

• 30% Directs strategic information technology planning initiatives and establishes objectives for the institution to ensure appropriate use of financial, administrative, staffing resources in alignment with the strategic plan
• 10% Developsoperating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and unit objectives
• 10% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
• 10% May develop and audit institutional budgets and/or financials
• 20% Serves as a liaison representing the interests of the institution to internal and external stakeholders
• 10% Advisesinstitutional or divisional leadership on information technology operations and business models
• 10% May perform manager functions

Required
Bachelor’s Degree

Candidates must have strong interest and demonstrated experience in higher education administration and leadership, information technology strategy and operations, business transformation initiatives, change management methodology, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software implementation experience.
Successful candidates will have a strong track record in information technology operations and
multiple years of relevant experience in higher education administration. Leadership experience and demonstrated capacity to work effectively with all stakeholders of a complex university system are required attributes.
Required Qualifications:
1. Knowledge of university administration in a complex university or university system
2. Experience in a leadership role directing a team of experienced managers and contractors
3. Experience in a substantial role on an ERP transformation project; cloud experience preferred
4. Management experience and expertise building and leading cross-functional teams of diverse
individuals
5. Strong presence with senior leaders and ability to act as a partner and trusted advisor
6. Strong problem solving and creative skills, along with the ability to exercise sound judgement in decision-making
7. Strong communication skills — both written and oral — including the ability to communicate
sensitive information effectively
8. Public speaking skills and comfort presenting to large groups
9. Strong analytical skills
10. Forward-thinking; ability to ground conversation in a vision for the future versus constraints of
the current state
Strongly Preferred Qualifications:
1. Workday implementation experience
2. Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) in a cloud-based infrastructure; tenant and release management of cloud software
3. Knowledge of the UW System and UW-Madison business support environment

Full Time: 100%
This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
