Asymptotic modelling of filament dynamics in viscous flows

About the Project

Modelling and asymptotic analysis of the dynamical deformation of slender elastic filaments in viscous flows. Example problems of interest include the spontaneous dynamics of biologically active filaments, the buckling of filaments in external flows, traveling waves propagating along filaments exposed to external flows, homogenisation of collections of beating cilia, etc.
