| Department Summary | The Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion, and Recreation has over 1,300 undergraduate majors and 100 graduate students (MS and PhD) across several specializations including sport and exercise psychology, exercise physiology, and sport pedagogy; PhD students are trained through collaborative programs with other UNT departments. Research facilities include the Sport and Exercise Psychophysiology Laboratory, Behavioral Neuroscience Research Laboratory, Sport Physical Activity and Health Laboratory, Applied Physiology Laboratory, Physical Activity and Psychomotor Learning Laboratory, and Integrated Metabolism and Disease Prevention Laboratory. The facilities and equipment are available for shared use by the successful candidate. | Position Summary | The Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion, and Recreation (KHPR) invites applications for a full-time, nine-month tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in Fall 2023. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the continued development and success of the department through research, teaching, service, outreach, and mentoring of students. Candidates from underrepresented populations are encouraged to apply. The faculty member hired for this position is expected to demonstrate a record of scholarly research in the field of Exercise, Health, or Sport Psychology as indexed by publications in quality journal outlets and professional presentations. Applicants for the position should demonstrate potential for future extramural funding. It is expected that the successful applicant will be able to collaborate, complement, and expand ongoing research efforts within the department. The faculty member will also be expected to engage in quality instruction and contribute to the program’s service and outreach with a focus on expanding the psychosocial aspects of exercise, health, and sport curriculum. Instructional roles will include teaching two courses per long semester to undergraduate and/or graduate students in exercise, health and sport psychology or related areas. Service roles within the department, college, university, and profession are expected. This may include serving an advisory role in mentored, practical or research experiences, being involved in theses, dissertations, and culminating projects, and serving in committee, curriculum, and coordinator roles. |
