The Opportunity:

The Associate Vice President for Accreditation and Assessment (AVP) leads a team that oversees institutional accreditation, compliance, assessment, program accreditation, and continuous improvement through academic program review.  The AVP works closely with the President, Provost, Campus Chancellors, Deans and campus support staff to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.  The AVP will maintain accreditation by being the lead in the development and submission of required institutional notifications and reports while providing support for programmatic accreditation processes.  The position serves as the official liaison between the institution and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).  The AVP facilitates the assessment and reporting of general education competencies, coordinates annual planning and assessment processes for academic and administrative programs.  The AVP will assist faculty and leadership in developing and refining evaluation and assessment designs needed to support academic program reviews, academic program assessment, and institutional/program accreditations.  The AVP will be involved in QEP plans, quality assessment, and continuous improvement programs at the university and its Daytona Beach, Florida, Prescott, Arizona and Worldwide campuses.

  • Ensure that compliance with accreditation requirements is incorporated into the planning, evaluation, data collection and reporting processes of the institution, supporting the various quality assurance processes required by the institutional accreditor, SACSCOC, and specialized accreditors (e.g. ABET, AABI, ACBSP and others).
  • Prepare communications, official correspondence, and required reports to SACSCOC, working with the Office of the President, insuring optimal communication, systematically archiving accreditation correspondence, self-study reports, committee reports, and maintaining updated accreditation manuals, standards, and policies.
  • Support the Office of the Senior VP for Academic Affairs and Provost (SVPAAP) and the Associate Provost for Academic Support in maintaining the SVPAAP Website, Academic Policies, providing agendas for staff meetings, accreditation-related committee meetings, and the Academic Council.
  • Oversee the Offices of Accreditation and Assessment, Academic Assessment and Administrative Assessment to assure that operations are effective and efficient.
  • Work with the Academic Assessment staff, faculty and academic administrators to assure academic quality, and seek solutions to achieve effective programs and operations through the academic assessments and program review processes, assuring that information related to quality of education is readily available for administrative decision-making and accreditation purposes.
  • Work with the Administrative Assessment staff and university-wide department administrators to assure administrative quality planning and assessment processes, assuring that information related to planning and assessment is readily available for administrative decision making and accreditation purposes.
  • Keep current on external issues affecting higher education, particularly changes in accreditation, accountability, transparency and effectiveness, determining implications for the institution, disseminating and applying this knowledge to institutional planning and decision making.
  • Administer the efficient use of university funds relative to accreditation, and oversee the budgets of the Offices of Accreditation and Assessment, Academic Assessment, and Administrative Assessment.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Associate Provost of Academic Support and the university administration, including ad hoc reports and supporting information as needed.

This position is based at Embry-Riddle’s Daytona Beach, Florida campus. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of related experience in institutional accreditation and assessment.
  • Proven leadership experience and demonstrated ability to work collegially with faculty, staff, administration, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Leadership, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously including prioritization and completing tasks on time.   
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to quality.
  • Knowledge of learning outcomes, assessment, and program review requirements in higher education.
  • Knowledge of current best practices and national issues.
  • Understanding of accreditation planning and assessment methodologies and tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree from an accredited institution.
  • 5 years of experience in a leadership/management position.
