University of Alberta

We build the university of tomorrow for the students who are seeking their purpose.

The University of Alberta is one of the top teaching and research universities in Canada, with an international reputation for excellence across the humanities, sciences, creative arts, business, engineering, and health sciences. The University delivers education to over 44,000 students across 18 faculties at five separate campus locations — four in Edmonton and one in Camrose — across the province.

The University of Alberta is seeking an Associate Vice President, Enterprise (AVP-E) to be a facilitator, connecting industry and community partners with the right university expertise to meet their needs, with a focus on generating value-added services, investments, and revenue for the organization. Reporting to the Vice President, External Relations, the AVP-E leads the Enterprise Partnerships Office and collaborates with key partners across the institution. The role leads a seamless, client-focused experience for university partners who are looking to identify and develop strategic, multi-faceted university relationships, achieved by establishing strong bonds and connections with internal associates seeking to build relationships with individual companies and organizations, or industry/community sectors wishing to develop large-scale initiatives.

This appointment calls for a customer-oriented leader with a record of success in business development and service delivery, combined with a deep understanding of private industry and notfor-profit sectors. Knowledge of university-industry collaboration and partnership management in the Canadian context would be a significant asset.

The AVP-E will have a track record of success in building partnerships and facilitation within complex multi-stakeholder institutions. Experienced in seeking opportunities and providing multifaceted solutions that meet client challenges, candidates should bring high energy to managing multiple projects simultaneously, and relationship skills to ensure successful collaboration with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
