| Minimum Position Qualifications | J.D. degree from an A.B.A. accredited law school and seven (7) of relevant experience in a law firm, or in-house counsel for an academic institution, corporation, government, or other entity, in one or more of the following practice areas: labor and employment, academic and educational affairs, research compliance, business transactions, governance and public accountability, intellectual property, civil rights, and Constitutional law. Must have a license to practice law in Tennessee, or the ability to obtain a license within six months of accepting the position. |

| Duties & Responsibilities | Provides consultative, advisory and representative legal services on matters affecting the University with a particular focus on labor and employment matters involving University of Memphis faculty, staff, and student employees, including, but not limited to, general HR matters, faculty and tenure matters, Title IX, and equal opportunity matters. |

| Duties & Responsibilities | Ensures compliance with state legal and regulatory matters managed by the Office of Legal Counsel including, but not limited to, the Tennessee Public Records Act and the Uniform Administrative Procedures Act. |

| Duties & Responsibilities | Drafts, interprets, and revises affiliated University and departmental policies and procedures, contracts, and other documents for University officials as necessary. |

| Duties & Responsibilities | Represents the University in administrative hearings required by state law and in court proceedings as delegated by the Office of the Attorney General. Manages litigation handled by the Attorney General and external legal counsel. |

| Duties & Responsibilities | Develops and conducts proactive presentations on legal issues affecting higher education for faculty, staff, and students. |
