As an Associate Research Fellow, Marine Biophysics, you will:

Research and Innovation

  • Conduct high-quality research generating high-impact outputs, with mentorship to begin building a body of work and reputation and recognition for quality, excellence, and impact
  • Engage collaboratively to participate in novel and high-quality research and participate in intra- and inter-disciplinary research collaborations
  • Communicate outputs, including as part of a team to ensure the impact of academic activity on the field and the community
  • Support and may lead applications for funding for research activities, applications for external competitive, and other funding
  • Build awareness of industry partners and participate in opportunities for research partnerships including

University Citizenship and Engagement

  • Contribute to Deakin community and its effectiveness via local engagement and citizenship activities
  • Understand the objectives and outcomes to be delivered by the University’s strategic agenda
  • Contribute to the community beyond Deakin via engagement activities
  • Support Deakin community engagement plan                                                                                                                                                                                

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
  • Expertise in spatial science, including the use of GIS
  • Oceanographic/biophysical modelling experience, including appropriate computer programming expertise (e.g. Python programming)
  • Emerging research and scholarship through scientific publications and/or exhibitions as appropriate to the discipline
  • Ability to contribute to communities through research
  • Early experience in the mentorship of honours and/or HDR students, or other mentorship experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues
