The Department of Molecular Biosciences at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a tenured faculty position at the Associate Professor or Professor level to serve as Director of the LaMontagne Center for Infectious Disease . We are particularly interested in candidates working on novel questions related to immunology, microbiology, virology, host-pathogen interactions, the microbiome and/or evolution. The Department of Molecular Biosciences is composed of a broad faculty whose research interests span many disciplines including biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology and biophysics, cell and developmental biology, plant biology, microbiology, immunology and infectious diseases, biotechnology and systems biology.

We also have outstanding core facilities, including those within the Center for Biomedical Research Support , the Texas Advanced Computing Center , and the Sauer Center for Structural Biology . The position offers excellent start-up funds, salary, and laboratory space in a dynamic and highly interactive research environment in the vibrant city of Austin. The Director of the LaMontagne Center for Infectious Disease will also have the opportunity to shape the future of this center.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline and have an outstanding record of scientific ability as demonstrated by a strong publication record. In addition, candidates should have a track record of external funding and leadership experience.
