The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Neurology has an opening for a full-time Associate Professor – position. 

Nature of Work

This position is responsible for direct care to patients in the inpatient Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHCO), working with an interdisciplinary team to provide expert level care for pediatric and young adult patients with epilepsy. In addition, this position is responsible for co-leadership of the pediatric to adult healthcare transition program at CHCO (ImPACT Program), and

leadership in adult transition care in Pediatric Neurology.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Provide direct care to patients admitted to the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit: History and physicals, manage daily care including medication management, protocols for unique epilepsy specific regimens (medications, vagus nerve stimulation as examples).
  • Participate in interdisciplinary activities with the epilepsy team and the neurology APP group: meetings, interviewing potential candidates for positions on the team, and other duties and requests for support and expertise as they arise.
  • Lead hospital wide programmatic approaches to improve pediatric to adult care transition including development of governance structure and collaboration with multiple entities across the organization and campus, and external partners with CHCO
  • Lead academic activities in pediatric to adult transition including publications, submission of abstracts for local, regional and national conference presentations.
  • Participate in national committees (both pediatrics and neurology) focused on pediatric to adult transition work.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring rate for this position has been established at $140,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Doctorate of Nursing Practice, Certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
  • Minimum of 10 years of PNP experience in neurology, specifically epilepsy and expertise in pediatric to adult transition
  • Academic writing for dissemination of scholarly work, and grant writing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Quality Improvement training including implementation strategies and data analysis
  • Track record of writing and publishing
  • Participation in nationally recognized efforts to address gaps in transition care

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Willing to collaborate with the medical team to provide the highest quality of care to patients and their families
  • Ability to diagnose and treat patients with neurological diagnoses

Condition of Employment:

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado.
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check.
