Location: London, Beijing, Berlin, Madrid, Shanghai, Tokyo, Nanjing – Hybrid working model

Nature Human Behaviour seeks an Associate or Senior Editor with a background in the social sciences.  No prior editorial experience is required as full training is given, although applicants with significant editorial experience will be considered for a Senior Editor position. This is a full-time position and will be located in our London, Beijing, Berlin, Madrid, Shanghai, Tokyo or Nanjing offices (hybrid working model).  

Launched in January 2017, Nature Human Behaviour publishes research of outstanding significance into any aspect of individual or collective human behaviour. The journal has a strong multidisciplinary identity (encompassing research across the social, biological, health, and physical sciences) and places a strong emphasis on rigorous scientific practices. 

The successful candidate will report to the Chief Editor and play an important role in shaping the content and future of the journal. You will participate in all aspects of the editorial process, including:

Manuscript selection and peer review
Commissioning and editing Opinion pieces, News & Views and Reviews
Writing for the journal
Liaising with the research community through laboratory visits and international conferences
Shaping journal strategy and policies
 

Required skills / experience:

A PhD in any social science discipline. We are particularly interested in candidates with a multidisciplinary background, strong quantitative skills, and broad interests in human behaviour research, as the role involves engaging with research in multiple diverse disciplines
Superior abilities in the communication of scientific ideas, and willingness to learn new fields
Strong interpersonal and networking skills and ability to travel to international conferences
