Who are we looking for?

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Associate Lecturer / Lecturer in Interaction Design to join School of Design, Faculty of Creative Industries, Education and Social Justice, Academic Division.

Associate Lecturer/Lecturer in Interaction Design will contribute to / lead curriculum development for the new Interaction Design course and contribute to teaching and research in the study area and across the wider School of Design.

The successful applicant will have a strong research and teaching profile appropriate for level of appointment sought, with demonstrated experience in publishing traditional and/or practice-based research outputs. As a member of the Interaction Design team, the successful applicant will be required to align their research with the Design Lab and actively contribute to undergraduate teaching and Higher Degree Research supervision.

A successful applicant is also expected to have and maintain a reputation for excellence in research and industry engagement and have demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research supervision.

As an Associate Lecturer/Lecturer, the successful applicant will also provide leadership in service to the University and engagement with industry, the community, professional associations, alumni and other stakeholders.

What you need to succeed

You will possess the capability to drive research expansion, educational enhancement, and a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration.

You will demonstrate:

  • Completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline area or equivalent professional experience and recognition.
  • Demonstrated disciplinary expertise and leadership in teaching, including innovative curriculum design and delivery at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Demonstrated research leadership in Interaction Design, evidenced through national recognition and impactful research activity and outputs.
  • Demonstrated contemporary knowledge of emerging interaction design theory and practice, with an emphasis on some of the following: extended reality, tangible media, human-AI-interaction, collaborative and social robotics.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated success in establishing and maintaining academic and industry collaborations that realise new opportunities for teaching and research.

    Remuneration: Total remuneration range: $83,894 to $113,836 pa (LEVA) OR $119,829 to $142,312 (LEVB); (inclusive of $70,891 to $96,193 (LEVA) salary p.a OR $101,257 to $120,255 (LEVB) salary p.a.;17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)
