The UCLan School of Humanities, Language and Global Studies is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Associate Lecturer in Philosophy, on a fixed-term hourly-paid basis, to provide teaching cover for a member of the Philosophy subject team from January to May 2023.  The teaching required is:

 

PI2212 The Philosophy of the Mind. This level five module focuses primarily on the mind-body problem and the various solutions that have been offered in response. Topics may include, but are not necessarily limited to, Cartesian dualism, behaviourism, the mind-brain identity theory, functionalism, Davidson’s anomalous monism, and eliminative materialism.

 

Candidates should have a relevant first degree and masters level qualification (or equivalent experience), alongside demonstrable competence and academic ability. Experience of development and delivery of teaching materials would be an advantage.

 

The successful applicant will be expected to complete HR checks for eligibility to work and undertake induction.  Prior experience of working for UCLan on SPH would be an advantage.  All candidates must agree to accept and remain within the university’s normal eligibility rules (e.g. visa restrictions on working hours).

 

Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. This position is based in Preston.
