About the Department of Rural Health
The Department of Rural Health is a department within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne. The Department is based in Shepparton, Ballarat, Bendigo (in partnership with Monash University and La Trobe University) and Wangaratta and has associations with more than 40 smaller rural towns in Victoria. The key purpose of the Department is to provide professional health education and research training in a rural context with an aim to increase the rural health workforce.
About the Role
The main component of the position is to facilitate placements in rural settings, ensure educational support and supervision is of the highest quality, and actively promote the GRH Student Support Program. This role engages with community and health services, designs and develops innovative placements, provides education and resources, and mentors students, supervisors and others involved with rural healthcare delivery. This includes fostering relationships with those involved in student placements and health education, setting up placements in diverse settings, providing education, orientation and assessments, and travel across rural regions to enhance the GRH program. This role provides the opportunity and flexibility for genuine innovation along with the resources to address rural health education, research and training needs.

About You
You possess advanced interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with knowledge of rural nursing and allied health workforce issues in Australia. You have experience in student support, individual mentoring and/or one-on-one education with a proven ability in supporting, facilitating, or developing student placements in rural settings.
