    Position description

    The Department of Psychology at The University of California, Berkeley seeks to make an appointment at the tenured level (Associate or Full Professor) in the area of Biological Basis of Behavior.

    This position is open to individuals with tenure or qualified for appointment with tenure. We seek applications from researchers using animal or human models. Desired interests include, but are not limited to, circuit/systems neuroscience, endocrine, ethological, physiological, genetic/epigenetic, anatomical/functional connectivity, or pharmacological approaches to understanding typical/atypical behavioral development, cognitive functioning, aging, neuropathology, social behavior, or mental health.

    Please note that the Department is conducting a second tenured-level appointment in the Human Neuroscience.
    That position is open to individuals with tenure or qualified for appointment with tenure. We seek applications from researchers who study human psychological function and behavior through a neuroscientific lens. This can include but is not limited to those working in the areas of affective, social, clinical, developmental, and/or cognitive neuroscience.

    The Department of Psychology includes over 54 active faculty and emeriti members with thriving labs addressing basic and translational research problems across six sub-area specialties: Social-Personality, Development, Clinical, Cognitive, Cognitive Neuroscience, and Behavioral Neuroscience. Further support is provided by the affilication of our faculty with University research units, including the Institute for Personality and Social Research, the Institute of Human Development, and the Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute, and through faculty collaborations with researchers across the UC Berkeley campus and other institutions in the San Francisco Bay Area. Psychology has over 500 undergraduate majors and Department courses serve approximately 4000 students each semester.
