Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking an Associate Director, Technology Support
to join Digital Business Solutions, Administrative Division.

The Associate Director, Technology Support, provides strong leadership and direction to a diverse team of technology professionals and is accountable for the strategic planning, operational delivery and ongoing performance of a robust university-wide client technology service.

The role will ensure that the end-user experience is at the core of the team’s focus with a continual drive to improve the delivery of value. Your ability to build trusted relationships as a people-focussed leader will be key to this role.

About the Administrative Division

Administrative Division supports the governance and operations of the University, including planning and quality, facilities and services for students and staff. The Administrative Division is led by the Vice-President (Administration) and University Registrar.

About Digital Business Solutions

Digital Business Solutions (DBS) provides support for staff and students across a range of information and technology services. DBS uses technology to create value for our students and customers through the portfolios of Learning and Teaching, Research and Innovation, and Professional Services.

DBS embraces digital transformation as being fundamental to our service in supporting QUT’s aspirations outlined in Blueprint 6.

DBS is responsible for a wide range of services in delivering and supporting digital solutions for QUT. DBS comprises seven business units with dynamic knowledge and expertise that work collectively with the University’s Faculties, Institutes and Divisions to provide quality Digital Solutions and Services in support of both QUT’s Strategic Objectives and in core operations for learning and teaching, research and innovation and professional services.

What you need to succeed

Your expertise and initiative, combined with your ability to work as an excellent team player will be vital to your success in this role.

You will demonstrate:

  • Relevant Education, training and/or experience equivalent to the completion of a degree, together with relevant industry certifications and extensive knowledge of, and significant experience in operational and strategic management in leading an ICT function.
  • Proven experience in developing and maintaining a strong understanding of, and insight to client needs and to develop relevant technology support strategies.
  • Extensive experience and ability to engage and influence key internal and external stakeholder, senior leaders, vendors, contractors and professionals.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and ensuring that service delivery is monitored effectively and that identified actions to improve service levels are implemented.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including negotiation, problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated success driving a high performance culture, including a proven record of achievement in the effective management of human, financial and other resources within a large organisation.
