Position Summary

The Associate Director, SPM Student Experience will have the opportunity to work with a team of staff and faculty that is dedicated to the success of our students from the time they think about joining our programs up to and including the time that they become alumni. This role is a full-cycle student relationship management role.

This position is responsible for the management and implementation of student services for the Sports Product Management (SPM) program. The position requires strong business acumen, self-confidence, initiative, and a high degree of professionalism who enjoys working with people from varied backgrounds and is committed to upholding and improving the quality of the graduate business programs. Applicant must possess marketing and communications savvy, an ability to write effectively, and a track record of working with metrics to benchmark progress. Qualifications must include problem-solving ability, excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to handle work-related stress. Individuals must be able to establish effective working relationships with faculty, students, and staff. The applicant must be a team player who is willing to work across the department and school to meet objectives and continue to affect change.

The Associate Director will work closely with the Director to ensure a high-quality experience for incoming and current students and will provide support and context for applying complex student services to the organization’s management, faculty, and students. The focus of this role is threefold: management of student services; academic advising; and, career advising and support.

The Associate Director oversees academic and career advising and is integral in decisions regarding course waivers, the fulfillment of program course prerequisites and requirements, and the implementation of policies related to academic performance and probation.

This is a full-time, 12-month professional position based in Portland, Oregon that reports to the Director of SPM programs.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Five years of experience in student/client customer services, preferably in a supervisory capacity

• Ability in problem identification, reasoning, ability to develop original ideas to solve problems, and leadership
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a collaborative and effective manner with faculty, administrators, students, alumni, and business people at all levels of an organization.
• Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
• Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively with the programs’ constituents
• Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques
• Knowledge of university-specific computer application programs and knowledge of university procedures
• Knowledge of business practices and those industries relevant to Lundquist graduate student

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in an institution of higher education
• Five years of experience with EITHER graduate education OR business experience
• In-depth knowledge of post-degree employment opportunities and practices for students graduating from a business school
